With Spring break and the ending of our winter sports season life is becoming quieter here in Jackson.  However many activities are still available: The 33rd Annual Pole Peddle Paddle will be held April 4 9:00 am-5:00 pm with 4 legs: Alpine Ski Leg, 10 km Cross County Ski Leg,19.8 Bicycle leg, 9 mile boating leg.  (For more information www.jhskiclub.org). April 11 10:00 am-11:00 am the Town Square Easter egg hunt will be held for the fun of our little ones. The Teton County Library Foundation and the Teton County Library invite you to attend a presentation by internationally acclaimed author Alexander McCall Smith April 23 beginning at 8:00 am. And finally April 17, 2009 8:00 am Yellowstone National Park opens to motor vehicles for the season  with the West side roads Mammoth to Norris Junctions to Madison Junction to Old Faithful; Madison Junction to West Entrance and Norris Junction to Canyon. SKI REPORT: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort closes for the season April 4, 2009.  Season to date there is over 410 " of snowfall with snow depth of 96" on the upper mountain and 321 " of snowfall and 75" mid mountain with  9 out of 12 lifts  open, 116 of 116  trails and 38 of 48 groomed trails. Please check the following link for the latest avalanche report :www.jacksonhole.net/snow-report.htm   Snow King Resort is snow closed for the season..Grand Targhee Resort has a snow depth of 90" with all 5 lifts, all 74 trails and over 2500 acres open until April 12, 2009.

  •  From the National Association of REALTORS: "The 2009 Home Buyer Tax Credit is a bill that provides for a $8,000 tax credit that would be available to first time home buyers for the purchase of a principal on or after January 1 and before December 1, 2009.  The credit does not require repayment. Most of the mechanics of the credit will be the same as under the 2008 rules:the tax credit will be claimed on a tax return to reduce the purchaser's income tax liability. If any credit amount remains unused then the unused amount will be refunded as a check to the purchaser".As well N.A.R. opposes any changes to the current laws regarding mortgage Interest Deduction. Individuals are now permitted to deduct mortgage interest paid on mortgages for a principal residence and for one additional residence. the $1 million limitation represents the combined allowable debt on two residences. Mortgage interest on up to $100,000 of debt on home equity loans or lines of credit also qualifies for the deduction.
